Triton Moves On
Ever Been To Fabulous Las Vegas?
Triton came to us in January of 2021 as a paraplegic. There was no visible sign of trauma in his x-rays, so we just put him on pain medication and added him to the group. Over a few months we noticed that Triton started using his back legs more and more! This is always exciting. This usually means that the problem was caused by swelling in the spine causing pressure on nerves. Sometimes cats like this regain partial ability to walk, sometimes they regain it completely.
We all watched and cheered as Triton continued to improve. All of a sudden, though, he seemed to plateau. He had a slight crouch in the back and a pretty severe wobble when he walked. He had full control of his bowels and bladder, though, so he was perfectly adoptable.
As with all of our adoptable cats, we just wait until their person magically comes along. It works for us, and our cats end up in the most wonderful homes! Well, no one was coming for Triton, and all of a sudden he started improving again! The next thing we knew his wobble and crouch were both completely gone and he was just like a normal cat! Enough so that he started to bully our more dominant cats. He was quite the troublemaker.
One day, Mimi was on Facebook reading a post her cousin wrote about one of her cats - she brings hers in from terrible conditions in South America! As usual, Mimi was reading through the comments. One comment said “I have always wanted an orange cat!” So I replied - expecting nothing - “I have an orange cat who needs a home!” About an hour later she messaged me and asked if I was serious and we started talking seriously!
She passed my standards right off as a friend of my cousin, and my gut screamed YES. So it was a matter of seeing if she liked Triton. She fell in love with him on sight! She lives in Las Vegas, but is a flight attendant, so getting him there was no problem. She does have 2 other cats that he will have to adapt to, but initial interactions were good. Everything shows that he adores his new mama already and will be very happy in his new home in Fabulous Las Vegas!
Happy life, my friend! You deserve it!
Many gallery photos are from his new home! He looks so happy!
