“She is just a little wibbly-wobbly”
As a feral cat, Rose was having the time of her life. Playing outside with her friends and lying in the sun. She did notice she had a harder time going in a straight line from one place to another, but it wasn’t going to slow her down. One day a group of strange creatures showed up and started placing weird things in her family’s home. Being very curious, Rose wobbled over to investigate and smelled something excellent. She went into the new “den” to find what smelled so good. As the trap closed behind her, she didn’t even notice as she ate the treats inside.
After trapping Rose through TNR, one of the trappers realized that something wasn’t quite right with little Rose and thought she might have suffered some trauma. Rose was very shaky and couldn’t stand up like a “normal” cat. The trapper contacted the Commune to see if there was room and after a brief discussion it was decided that Rose would come live here.
After she arrived, Rose was taken to our veterinarian she was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Cerebellar hypoplasia is a developmental condition in which the cerebellum of the brain fails to develop properly. The cerebellum is the portion of the brain that controls fine motor skills, balance, and coordination. The condition is not painful or contagious.
Rose Tyler was named so after the companion from Dr. Who. She is just wibbly-wobbly. She wobbles and shakes when she walks, often falling over. Despite this, she is an energetic, happy girl. She is also fearless and fierce. The other cats in the room where she lives realize she is the queen of her room and try not to get in her way. She climbs the cat trees and other furniture and has taught herself how to climb down without jumping. Some of her favorite things are tortillas, bread and her fuzzy hammock.
When Rose wants attention, she will chirp and meow until someone pets her. She has learned when hearing the words “heating pad,” she will scurry to the heating pad and lie right down. Her days here at the Commune are filled with love, play, and so many pets. She is one special girl.
It’s truly because of your generosity that Rose is thriving today. Please help us keep Rose and the other 142 kitty residents in their dream home here with us at the Commune. It takes an army to feed, care for, and clean for all our cats and their unique needs. We truly can’t do this alone. You are a vital part of our family. Thank you for your support.
